Friends of La Vase Portages are pleased to confirm that as of April 22, 2015, in response to strong concerns raised by public comments and Nbisiing First Nation Chief Mariana Couchie, the Aecon Mining Inc. Exploratory Mining Permit Application, filed 23 March, 2015, has been withdrawn. Aecon still retain a 21 year mining claim to this Crown Land, Lot 30, Concession 16, East Ferris, and Friends of La Vase Portages continue to be concerned with Aecon's long term intentions to develop this last remaining undeveloped section of La Vase Portages along Coopers Lake, into an aggregate quarry. Help us preserve the landscape adjacent to this historic First Nation and Voyageur canoe route. If you would like us to keep you informed as to any activity regard the protection and conservation of La Vase Portages please send us your email details on our "Contact Us" page. All the best & Chi Miigwetch for your support.
