Three Amigos! Past Chair Fred McNutt spoke to the history of the Northwest Company on La Vase Portages, Cliff Moulder shared a presentation on the three historical portage and land trails crossing North Bay prior to European arrivals, and Roy Summers shared his presentation on the geology and glaciation that shaped La Vase River and Nipissing.
Chair John Wipprecht introduced author Michael Ouelette who traces his lineage back to the families if Nicolet and Champlain,

Fiends of La Vase member Cliff Moulder shared his personal collection of Voyageurs and early pioneer artifacts such as a Voyageur Gouvereurs paddle, a flintlock rifle and fur trade goods.
It was an interesting and informative Friends of La Vase Portages Canoe Night with three guest speakers, displays of Voyageur era artifacts and campfire themed snacks served during the evening. Everyone learned a bit more about the history of the area and the La Vase Portages.
