One of his most memorable trips was time spent on the renowned Coppermine River. For those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to get to the Northwest Territories, his slideshow will share a rare opportunity to experience the scenery of canoeing arctic Canada.
Darren Makarenko
Pictured is his first place Canadian Geographic photo on the Mattawa River just below Talon Chutes.
Thank you to our Canoe Night 2010 sponsors
17 April 2009 KevinCallan
Over 150 guests shared an evening of "Wilderness Pleasures" with noted canoeing author Kevin Callan at the Nipissing University theater last Friday. Learning more about "Speedo Man" and Andy, two of Callan's regular canoeing buddies, than they may have wished two, canoeing enthusiasts enjoyed a terrific kick off to this year's canoe season.
Thanks to everyone who attended and especially to our eveing sponsors North Bay Canoe & Kayak, Bigwood's Outdoor Sports, Lefebvres Sports and Gullivers Books Store.
Thanks also to Kevin's sponsors Eureka! sporst gear and Firefly books.
24 April 2008 Hap Wilson
Noted Canadian canoeing author Hap Wilson shared some of his stories on the lighter side of canoeing Friday, April 24 at the Nipissing University theater.
There was no charge for admission but Friends of La Vase did have another cheesy "pass-the-hat" raffle for paddles and some other great canoe stuff.
Special thanks to our sponsors Bigwood's, Lefebvre's, North Bay Canoe $ Kayak and Gulliver's
