Greg Stockermans monitors Spring water levels at "Sucking Swamp".

Gerald Laronde is a member of the Friends of La Vase Portages Board of Directors and is currently completing his Doctorate at Nipisssing University in addition to teaching at the University.  Pictured here with his son Andrew, Gerald and Andrew are respectively sixth and seventh generation descendants of Toussaint Laronde who, with his brother Eustache,  built the Fort Laronde trading post at the mouth of the La Vase River on Lake Nipissing in the early 1700's.

John Wipprecht and Bernie Stockermans demonstrate their brushing skills on the hiking trail that circles the pond on the upper portage.

Roy and Eric Summers can often be found paddling their trusty Sportspal canoe or walking on the trails of La Vase Portages.
