La Vase Portages

Sprucing Up Birch's Road

Picture
Thanks to Scott, Bernie, Geoff, Greg & Garnett for helping with the Birch's Road clean up June 3. Six couches, a refrigerator, a plastic holding tank, a number of tires and a small garter snake were all pulled out of the bush along one of the access roads to La Vase Portages.

Picture
It took three people to carry the old refrigerator out of the bush. Turned out it was also full of broken glass.

Thankyou to the City of North Bay work crews who eventually used two dump trucks and a front end loader to clear the debris away to Merrick Landfill.  Polluters are subject to fines as high as $5,000 if they are caught - please let us know if you notice anyone dumping anywhere in the area.

North Bay Blooms Pitches In

Picture
Wednesday, May 13 North Bay Blooms focused on the Brandy Lake trailhead for ther weekly wednesday evening clean up location.  Pleased to say there wasn't a lot of litter - about 3 bags full, but still a shame some people still think of a trail parking lot as a convenient place to dump garbage from their car.
